The Bío Bío Region is one of the fifteen regions in which Cihile is divided. It limits north with the Maule Region, east with Argentina, south with the region of Araucania and west with the Pacific Ocean.
It has an area of 37 068.7 km²5 and a population of 2,114,286 inhabitants (according to the INE 2015),
